A few years ago I contracted tennis elbow after raking leaves for hours on end. At first, I thought it was just a simple ache that would go away (I had never had it before) so I ignored it. When it didn't go away after about a month, I finally went to the doctor. My general practitioner gave me some anti-inflammatory medication and sent me on my way. While the medication helped, I did some research on it and learned that taking it for a prolonged period of time was detrimental to my liver. I asked the doctor what else he could recommend and he sent me to an orthopedist who sent me to a physical therapist. I went for physical therapy three times a week for three months and it did absolutely nothing - no improvement whatsoever. In the meantime, simple tasks like emptying the dishwasher were painful - although not excruciating, it was a very uncomfortable type of ache. You don't realize how often you use your arm for simple things until it hurts to do so! I returned to the orthopedist who suggested a shot of cortisone, and I agreed. After the discomfort of the shot went away, instant relief! However, cortisone shots only last for a limited period of time and within weeks I was feeling pain again. I had read up on cortisone shots after the fact as well and learned that it's not a good idea to keep getting them. At this point it was about a year and a half since the pain had begun. I happened to be talking to Barb Pabisz about it and she told me about her Tibetan bowls and sound healing. I was open to trying anything that would offer relief. I do have to admit that I was very skeptical - I expected the same outcome as I had gotten from reiki,(not Reiki with Barbara) which was very relaxing but did nothing to ease the pain. However, I was proven wrong! Because I was short on time, I only had a brief introductory session, but I felt an immediate difference and agreed to return the following week for a full session. The hour-long session was extremely relaxing and, miraculously, at the end of it, my pain was entirely gone and it hasn't returned since. That was nearly two years ago. I cannot recommend sound healing enough - you will be amazed at what it can do for you! Cathy. S
